Guv's ratings continue to tank

Gov. Tom Corbett's approval ratings continue to tank.

ICYMI, PoliticsPA reported the findings of a recent Franklin and Marshall College poll yesterday.

Only one in five, or 17 percent, of registered Pennsylvania voters believe Corbett is doing an "excellent" or "good" job as governor.

The poll also shows 62 percent of registered voters believe the state is "off on the wrong track" and only one in five, or 20 percent, believe Corbett has performed sufficiently well to deserve re-election.

The survey was conducted Aug. 21-26. The pollsters interviewed 594 registered voters, including 292 Democrats, 217 Republicans and 85 Independents. The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percent.

The Dems are going to have a field day with Corbett next year. They are already pushing out a nauseating amount of emails and news releases every day and it's not even 2014.

I'm wondering if the Republicans are starting to develop a backup plan (i.e. another candidate). It's not likely. Bruce Castor, a Republican from Montgo, threw in the towel a while ago. Having Corbett at the top of the ticket could jeopardize re-election efforts for all Republican House members and some Republican state senators who are up for re-election next year.

Do you think the GOP should find another candidate?

UPDATE: The Associated Press reported how the Dems are lining up to take on Corbett.
