The Pennsylvania State House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution Monday honoring the life of the late Robert “Bob” Edgar, a former longtime Democratic congressman of the 7th Congressional District.
Edgar, a former Springfield resident, was the congressman of the 7th District for six terms. He died at the age of 69 April 23.
He was also a Methodist minister who served as president and chief executive officer of Common Cause after his political career.
State Rep. Margo Davidson, D-164, of Upper Darby, was the prime sponsor of House Resolution 318.
“Bob worked tirelessly to hold the government accountable, while empowering ordinary citizens,” Davidson said in a statement. “He will be remembered for his strong commitment to social justice. He made not only the commonwealth, but the world, a better a place.”
