Local officials weigh in on sequester

Now that the so-called sequester deadline has passed, people are trying to make sense of what proposed cuts will mean for their agencies and residents.

Officials from local agencies discussed the uncertainty that comes from the sequester and said they were receiving mixed messages about what the cuts mean in terms of dollar amounts.

You can read more about what local officials had to say here.

In the days leading up the March 1 deadline, several legislators attempted to provide solutions, including U.S Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa.

"None of this is necessary," Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday, the Associated Press reported. "It's happening because Republicans in Congress chose this outcome over closing a single wasteful tax loophole that helps reduce the deficit."

Really Mr. President? Let's stop the blame game and get things done.
