Pa. delegation OKs fiscal deal
All legislators from the Pennsylvania delegation in Washington, D.C., including Democrats and Republicans, voted in favor of a deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff crisis this week.
The fiscal package passed Tuesday by the Senate and House extends most of the Bush-era tax cuts for individuals making less than $400,000 and married couples making less than $450,000. The U.S. House approved the deal, called the American Taxpayer Relief Act, in a 257-167 vote, and the Senate passed the deal in an 89-8 vote.
The group that voted in favor of plan includes the two congressmen from Delco - U.S. Rep. Pat Meehan, R-7, of Upper Darby and Bob Brady, D-1, of Philadelphia - and both senators from Pa. - Democrat Bob Casey and Republican Pat Toomey.
Here are more details on the deal and why legislators voted for it.
