Organization honors former county councilwoman
Cannon, a former county council vice chairwoman, was honored for her planning efforts and preservation of the environment. County council honored her again Wednesday.
While on county council, Cannon led the effort to create a "Green Pages" section on the county government website. She was also instrumental in the preservation of Mineral Hill and formed an enviromental and energy task force.
"What an honor it is to receive this award," said Cannon, adding that the achievements marked by the award were a result of the efforts of many people, including her former colleagues on county council and members of the county's planning department.
County Council announced there will be a rededication ceremony of the Grant Avenue Bridge that crosses the Muckinipattis Creek between Folcroft and Glenolden at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21.
The reconstruction of the bridge began back in April. The Grant Avenue Bridge is one of 44 bridges maintained by the county.
