The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce named state Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, R-9, of Chester, “Legislator of the Year” during an event at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack in Chester Thursday night.
“I’m honored and humbled by the award,” Pileggi said. “Delaware County is blessed with a number of outstanding and experienced legislators and for the chamber to select me from among them is a great honor.”
Delaware County Chamber of Commerce President Alex Charlton said the chamber chose Pileggi because he “has always been at the forefront of making sure interests of the business community are addressed at the state level.”
Specifically, Charlton credited Pileggi with the work he put forth in addressing the refinery crisis that faced Marcus Hook and Trainer communities this past year.
Pileggi, a former Chester mayor, faces Democrat Patricia “Pat” Worrell, a Chester resident, in the Nov. 6 election. He has been a state senator since 2002.
