Dem candidate's poll: 7th up for grabs
“Voters are not interested in sending Meehan back to Congress,” states a recent memo by Gerstein, Bocian and Agne Strategies, the Washington, D.C.-based firm that was hired by the Badey campaign. “More than half of the electorate can identify Congressman Meehan, but only 28 percent say that he deserves to be re-elected to Congress, while 39 percent say that someone new should get a chance.
“Even in Delaware County — the congressman’s home — just 35 percent say he deserves re-election.” The survey of 400 likely general election voters in the 7th Congressional District was conducted from May 30-June 3 and has a 4.9 percent margin of error.
Meehan, a former Delaware County district attorney and former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, is serving his first term in Congress. He is from Upper Darby.
“Rather than talk about partisan push polls, Congressman Meehan is hard at work finding bipartisan solutions to grow our economy and create jobs, such as yesterday’s passage of critical funding to deepen the Delaware River,” said John Elizandro, campaign spokesman for Meehan, in a prepared statement.
Badey is an attorney at a Philadelphia law firm where he focuses on personal injury litigation. He is also chairman of the Radnor Democratic Party.
