Council selects firm for refinery study

Delaware County Council announced Wednesday that the county’s Industrial Development Authority has selected IHS Global Inc. to study the potential uses for Sunoco Inc.’s Marcus Hook refinery.

The Industrial Development Authority is a division of the Delaware County Commerce Center.

Commerce Center Director J. Patrick Killian said the IDA has directed company officials to come up with five or six potential future uses of the site, including potential links to the Marcellus Shale. The company will report back to the IDA by early June.

Council initially announced that it directed the IDA to work on this process back in March.
