Council honors cheerleaders

Delaware County Council adopted a resolution Tuesday night honoring the Kedron Youth Association Cheerleading Program for winning four championships in four age divisions last month in Orlando, Fla.

The resolution was introduced by county Councilman Dave White, a former longtime Ridley Township commissioner. “It’s an honor to be back in Ridley Township,” he said.
The cheerleading teams competed the weekend of April 6-7 at the Cheerleaders of America Pure National Championships. All four teams brought home a first place win and qualified for a bid to compete at the U.S. Finals, according to White.
White’s 14-year-old daughter, Kellianne White, was one of the 97 cheerleaders recognized by county council.
Council adopted the resolution during a night meeting in Ridley Township. Council normally meets on Wednesday mornings in the Government Center in Media but occasionally takes a meeting on the road to another municipality at night.
